Ho ho, ha ha ha! It’s been my job to find new and innovative ways of bringing development to you. I have a really good one: laughter yoga! The health benefits are undeniable as we’ve seen over and over again how laughter creates more happy hormones in our bodies.

Whether you laugh genuinely or are just faking it, your body still thinks its real! 

And now we know that most adults only laugh about 15 times a day, if they’re lucky! Guess how many times children laugh in a day? A whopping 500! What happens to us as adults that we laugh so little? Okay, okay, I know it’s a silly question because naturally, as adults we get caught up in our careers, family and responsibilities. But what if we could bring laughter back into our adult lives? How would it change us?

Studies suggest that we would be more creative, and of course, more happy. Yes, more happy! Whether you laugh genuinely or are just faking it, your body still thinks it’s real! So you get to reap the health and wellness benefits from laughing. Still not convinced? After you start laughing aloud for no particular reason while doing these playful laughter exercises with yoga-style breathing, you’ll see what the raves are all about.

Greeting Laughter, Appreciation Laughter, Windmill Laughter and Wipe Laughter 

This is how it works: a typical Laughter Yoga session begins with clapping exercises while chanting Ho-Ho-Ha-Ha-Ha. Once this warm-up ends, a series of laughter exercises begins. These exercises are combined with breathing exercises and light stretching.

The exercises include the Greeting Laughter, Appreciation Laughter, Windmill Laughter and Wipe Laughter. Other exercises involve laughing while talking on an imaginary mobile phone (Cell Phone Laughter), acting as if arguing (Argument Laughter), and asking for forgiveness (Apology Laughter).

The session, which lasts for 20-30 minutes, closes with members laughing around a circle and meditating on the good feelings that were created. The night ends with a 10 minute group reflection. And there you go, the magic of a laughter yoga session is revealed.

We now offer Laughter Yoga in the Workplace for Team Building, Employee Wellness Programs and as ice breakers for our other training programs. 

We discovered Laughter Yoga at the Laughter Saloon in NYC with Francine Shore a few weeks ago and we decided that we had to obtain our certification as Laughter Yoga Leaders! We can’t think of a better way to work with our clients than to offer Laughter Yoga. Sooooo…..we now offer Laughter Yoga in the Workplace for Team Building, Employee Wellness Programs and as ice breakers for our other training programs.

And because we don’t want to leave out individuals, we also offer JC Laughter Yoga, which is our local laughter yoga club in downtown Jersey City!
